Politico: NRSC Chair Includes New Mexico in Expanding Map at RNC

Congress can get ignored in a presidential election year — and the House and Senate GOP campaign chiefs looked to change that on Thursday.

Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) took the Republican convention stage on the final night — though well before the prime-time hours — to frame their campaigns as essential to the success of former President Donald Trump’s second term.

Daines, the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, used his slot to plead for cash for his GOP candidates, and he helpfully included a website for donations. His name drops gave a hint toward what he sees as an expanding map: Jim Justice in West Virginia, Tim Sheehy in Montana, Bernie Moreno in Ohio, Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania, Sam Brown in Nevada, Mike Rogers in Michigan, Eric Hovde in Wisconsin, Kari Lake in Arizona — and notably Hung Cao in Virginia and Nella Domenici in New Mexico.
